Default Another question on tying quilts

I am tying a quilt that I made for my 7 yr old grandson. The quilt is a mixture of 12-- 3" blocks in patchwork and paper-pieced Lego men. My question...would it look okay to use different colors of embroidery floss to tie each of the 12 patchwork block sets and then could I echo quilt by hand the Lego men blocks? Or should I tie the whole thing? I can't post picture because I haven't figured that out yet. Thanks for your input.

I think It would be really nice with different colors of embroider threads (often people use perle cotton) then echo quilt part of it. I've seen quilts that were hand quilted in parts, machine quilted in parts & tied in parts- charming. just make sure you use a batting that is ok for tied quilts- and do your ties as close together as recommended. show us pictures when it's done-sounds very cute!

I think it would look fine with what you are proposing!

you know you could tie it where the ties show on the back rather than the front. just a thought.

I think it would look great and it's your quilt. Anxious to see it when completed.
