What kind of pattern are you looking for? Appliqué, pieced and are you a beginner or expert quilter? There are great youtube videos from the Missouri Star Quilt co. that would look nice in baby fabrics.

Congrats on the new baby! At first I was thinking rag quilt but: http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...ies-t4303.html so maybe not. Still I would go with just a basic flannel and/or minky quilt that's soft with a little texture and probably just a simple block pattern. Make two so you have a spare while the other is in the wash.

There are several cute free tutorials for baby quilts on the Craftsy site.

Perhaps choose a simple pieced pattern, and let some great fabrics work for you!

Put Bunny Hugs into the search box at the top of QB and see if that quilt would work for you. It is simple squares with sashing but the appliqué bunnies at the top make it adorable.

For my soon to arrive niece, I did four patches turned to diamonds, then made chevrons via washing, and used minky as the back.

Super easy - picked so her big brother could help - can go either boy or girl, can go with the current chevron trend or let points touch and have open blocks to design in, or keep them square...

Little Miss has blocks of pink plaid and pink floral, with lilac polka dotted sashing and border, with bright cheerfully pink minky and equally bright cheerful purple satin binding. It sounds bad, and it's pretty busy, but Momma and Big Bro picked fabric (he picked, Mom approved) and it should hide stains on the front. Plus, if you can't have an obnoxiously tacky, bright and darn right happy quilt as a baby - when can you?

    Congratulations on the new arrival!

Congradulations on your expected baby boy. My daughter is having a boy in April also. It is our first grandchild. I love to make baby quilts and I am excited to be making one for my grandchild. Here is a picture of a quilt top I made a few years ago. It looks hard but it very easy. What is great about it is that you don't have to match seams.
