Tackling this beautiful quilt top but don't want quilting to take away from the quilt pattern. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Since this has similar motion to Storm at Sea, I would use an edge to edge design that reinforces the wavy motion like this:

You could SITD the star portion, then do a motif where the 4 blocks come together. This is a wonderful block. Be sure to post your quilt when completed!

Have you seen if Google has any photos of this quilt finished? I would certainly do stitching that would accent the design. Interesting pattern.

Finally finish this quilt top! Worked on it while staying in a Holiday Inn and LaQuinta during my move to Dallas, TX. I named it Holiquinta for the names of the hotels. After getting tired of the Nine Askew block and it's small pieces, I added sashing and then blocked it with the free Ground Cover block from Me and My Sister Design. Still working on how am going to quilt it.

Beautiful quilt - when I saw the one on the link I too would have suggested some sort of curvey edge to edge, but now you have shown the actual quilt I wouldn't do that - no further suggestion at this stage would have to keep looking at it over several days for some inspiration - not helpful I know, just wanted to say how much I admired the end result.

I'd do two similar complimentary patterns, one in the dark pieces and then one in the background block that connects them. I don't know how good you are at FMQ, but this one just screams Green Fairy Quilts type quilting to me. Basically ruler work that mirrors some of the seams and then filled in with a filler.

Or you could echo the black block design on the background blocks...

Or you could use the black block plus the next piece out to create a bigger X and then use the rest as a background -- that would leave a cool place (the diamond 4 patch) to do a different pattern.

I'd be tempted to do Orange peel on your border blocks and then something intricate matching the middle on the solid sashing.

But I tend to go pretty custom and can't really do edge to edge well enough on a sitdown.

Not sure about the whole thing, but I think that quilting circles around the sideways dark brown crosses would look nice.
