My first and second quilts were crazy 9 patches. Nothing was supposed to match up and didn't!! Loved it! The second one I must have left out a step cuz all corners did match! Funny....but fun! I've not done the Yellow Brick Road, but it might be a good one too. I'm really into 9 patches, though! I did two disappearing 9 patches that were a hoot! A lot of fun to do! I'm doing something "my style" this time around. It probably has a name somewhere but I've not seen it done and just dreamed it up, literally!! Have fun, don't stress and get 'er done!!!

After my grand daughter learned to make a straight 1/4 seam. she made a turning twenty top. she loved it and was so pround of it. she was 10 when she made it . So was easy for a beginner.

So many of you have these cute little animals etc that move on your posts like the one of the kitty with the ball of yarn.
I would like to know how to do that. Can anyone help me?

Yellow Brick Road was my first and I really enjoyed making that pattern. Was not difficult at all.

I made the Philadelphia Pavement Block Quilt for my first quilt and didn't have any trouble with it. http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof...ck-pattern.htm

I have done the disappearing 9 patch and it is fun and easy, but don't count out BQ. Several good things about BQ: Large pieces, easy instructions but the best is you will impress everyone because it doesn't look like a beginners quilt pattern. Everyone will think you've been quilting for years.

My first was a nine-patch and rail. I had no problems and I ended up with a quilt I'm proud of.
