FWIW I have an older 170 and usually sew with Aurifil. Works great! I went to a Bernina because they are so darned good at sewing a reliable straight seam true to the end of the fabric. My old machine wanted the end of the seam to curve off and that drove me crazy.
The one thing I do find is that the machine is extremely sensitive to lint in the bobbin case area. ..I think most machines are...and so I keep a paintbrush nearby to dust out that area frequently.
