    Default Is it big enough?

I'm making a rag quilt for my DGD. I think I should have cut out my squares bigger. I have it all pieced, but it is only about 36" square. I didn't plan to add any borders and I don't think I can get any more of the fabric I used. Is that big enough for 1 yr old?

It is a bit small - but then I make larger quilts so they can use it up to 5 or 6 years. Maybe you could find fabric to compliment the fabric you used to frame it.

On the other hand, since it is a little girl, when it is finished being a quilt for her, it will be perfect as a quilt for her dolls. When my mother passed away I found a yard of fabric that had a very cute jungle theme. We have no idea where it came from. It was just one yard, and she quit sewing more than 30 years before she passed away. Since my niece was expecting at the time, I backed it with a very soft flannel, quilted it, then put a binding on it. She had twins a month after my mom passed a boy and a girl. That was 6 years ago and the blanket wraps around my niece's favorite doll.

I think it's fine for a 1yo. Big enough to lie down on, play on, wrap a teddy bear in, drag around the house, etc. Might not be quite big enough for a nap time quilt, but just make another one for that purpose!

Maybe for napping, but probably will be kicked off at night. I aim for a minimum 36" for a newborn and 45" for toddler.

I think it will be fine. She will be dragging it thru the house and watching TV sitting on it.

Perfect size for the car seat blanky when you just need to tuck them in with a smaller blanket to keep legs and feet warm. Most blankets are tooooo large for the car seat and end up bunched all over the place. As mentioned - make another larger one that is more the size you want. You KNOW you want to !!

I would just finish it up and give that baby a big old hug!
