    Default Binding a Minky Quilt

Help! I want to bind a baby quilt I made that is backed with the minky. Any helpful tips or tutorials that you know of would help. I would like to machine sew it on. Here is a pic of the quilt.

Your quilt is adorable! I backed one with kinky and used cotton, sewed to the back and flipped to the front..fancy sticthes it down. I know you are supposed to hand sew bindings but my grandson has a way of finding small holes to wrap his fingers in and I hate to fix them!

My 2 cents: add a little extra for your binding width to count for the dots. My first attempt didn't go well because of the dots. I did machine sew mine also.

When I have done the binding on Minkee backed quilts, I just made the binding from the cotton fabric and sewed it as I usually do, machine sew to the front and hand sew to the back. It was not a problem.

the celtic dreams quilt i just did with the minkie backing i cut it to 1" wider than the rest after quilting then folded it to the front- turned the edge under & machine top stitched- it turned out great and now the front of the quilt has a wonderful soft edge.
i gave the quilt to my daughter at her birthday party tonight----she loves it! even if the purple was not the purple she had hoped for

Really too bad that she liked it! I was hoping that somehow it would come to me! That is really excellent.
