I buy bolts of Dream Cotton from Marshall's Dry Goods. I can't any difference from Moda Bella. If you like Moda Bella you will like Dream Cotton. The rep told me it was the same manufacturer. I don't know for sure. It is all solid colors. It comes in 108" too. I think it is $2.49 a yard if you buy the bolt. Not sure how much to ship as I live close enough to drive there.

FQS gives a 20% discount when you order a bolt. I think you either have to call to order, or order online and put a "bolt discount" in the notes field. It won't come up on the order screen, but will be adjusted and your credit card charged accordingly.

I like Keepsake's Amish Black, too. It has a nice "hand," as opposed to Kona which is stiff and heavier. My one problem with black backgrounds is that, over time, it fades. I don't mind the look of an older quilt, but non-quilters need to be warned that this will happen.

Thumbs up, Dunster. I have been purchasing Amish Black from Keepsake too for about four years now and have been pleased. True color and a good weight.

I too go to fabric.com for bolts of fabric. I will buy wow's and black in bolts since I use so much. I am due to buy another bolt of black very soon. In many instances, depending on the fabric there are deeper discounts for the larger the amount you purchase.

I'm right there with Cam's Gram. Bought the very same item. Next purchase will be a bolt as it is very nice fabric and a nice solid black. Great idea to get a bolt as black is such a great basic.

I don't use solid black, but a lot of charcoal-on-black prints. I buy them at JoAnn with a 50% off coupon.

I also buy background color bolts from Green Fairy. Great company!
