    Default Border Color Ideas

I finished this top (made with the blocks swapped to me from our Summertime Swap) last week. I want to put a 5" border around it to frame it and to match my fall themed quilt from last years Fall time Swap. I'm stumped as to which color to use and have been staring at it all weekend hoping for a brainwave to hit. (None hit ) Should it have a "focus" border like sunflowers, or a red checked border? Or a solid green? I'm open to ideas! (Hopefully I don't regret saying that, lol!)

Here is the Fall quilt I'm hoping to 'match' it with, so to speak.

Since you are keeping with a seasonal theme I think a red check like a tablecloth would be cute. Great quilts, love samplers!

Adorable quilts! I would go with a red or yellow checkered or polka dot border. Looking forward to seeing what you choose.

I like pewa's idea of the red checker. Festive for the summer!

Oh, I like those suggestions, pewa88 and tallchick!

I hadn't thought of polka dots... That would be fun!

Orrrrrr ..... could you find a ladybug print???

    Great Fun Summer Quilt!

The blue in your bluebird, flag etc. could be a good border colour.
You might be able to find a yellow sunflower print with the blue mixed in,
that would emulate your Fall quilt border.

If it were me ... I would take my flimsy to the LQS, and play with different possibilities.
You'll find what you know is "right"
.... and usually it is not in the least what you went in thinking it would be!

    Good Luck!

A lot of work but a white picked fence around it would be cute.

What great quilts!!! I love them. I have no border suggestions, the ones you have gotten are all good and probably all you need anyway. But I wanted to tell you how much I admire those quits!

Thank you everyone for the kind comments on the quilts! The ladies who joined in the swaps deserve all the credit for they really poured out all the stops for creativity for the blocks!

Thanks for the border suggestions too! I knew you would have the best ideas. I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby and think it would make a cute border. https://www.hobbylobby.com/Fabric-Se...ric/p/80868437
