I've been sewing all my life, but I bought my very first full bolt of fabric today! It's just muslin for quilt backs (108" wide!), but it feels like a milestone to me.

I buy bolts often. Especially white on white and cream on cream. It seems like I use them up within a year. Also, Joanne's has a great flannel sale every year the day after Thanksgiving, and I buy flannel by the bolt for quilt backs. Also, I love the bolt sale at Sauders in Denver, PA. They have it several times a year.

I know the feeling. Having a full bolt of a "staple" fabric is like having a well stocked freezer!

Wow, you are a true professional now. Congrats. I get how you feel. Years ago I bought a bolt of blue calico with little red and yellow flowers for the whopping sum of $30. I was making cutesy stuff to sell and tried a business selling baskets with Vermont cheese and other food products. Planned to make napkins and basket liners. It didn't work out, and I've still got a bunch of it buried somewhere in my stash, but it's kind of dated to use now.

I buy bolts of fabric with my two quilt friends. I buy a bolt and they each buy a different one. We then swap 5 yards each. Most bolts are 15 yards. I end up with three different fabrics of 5 yards each. We buy a lot of bolts and swap when we go to Marshall's Dry Goods warehouse.

Haha, I know how you feel. Last year when our local Hancock's was having a great sale on batting, I bought the whole roll. It made me feel like I was really a quilter to see that sitting at my house. haha

Well, IMHO, "dated" is in the eye of the beholder. For those who like calico fabrics, I would think it would still be popular. If you don't want it, perhaps you could try posting it on the QB. Someone may be interested.

I bought several bolts of fabric when our Walmart took the fabric out. Then I learned you could order bolts-------------info I didn't need, KWIM?
