I am making another bow tucks using this metallic fabric. My
first one I didn't quilt the pocket and just did diaginal lines both
ways. I was thinking of just using one diagonal line this time. But want some opinons. Straight, diagonal, quilt the pocket or not. How would you do this fabric? Also if anyone has used this
kind of fabric before how do you press this fabric. On the back side only, low heat....?

lets see the pics of the fabric. the fabric should tell you how to quilt it. I use batiks with metallic flecks. I try to iron only on the back side of it. but I do iron the front side also on the high setting on my iron. just don't let the iron sit on the fabric keep it moving. this will help it, I use steam in the iron also.

If you're concerned about the heat, don't fuse the pellon. My first one I didn't use fusible pellon--used sew-in.

When I make the bags, I quilt using straight lines or diaginal. I have quilted the outside pocket on a couple but I don't like it so I don't do it anymore. Sorry, can't help you with the fabric I've never used it.

I did not quilt the pockets on any of the bags I've made. And only quilted the upper part (above the pockets) of the largest bag. Mine have been home decor fabric for the outside, regular cotton fabric for the lining. The home decor fabric had enough 'body' that I did not feel the need for batting or interfacing, so only did a lining and the pockets.

Sorry I forgot to add the picture earlier. I took it with my phone so it turned out kinda dark.

If that were me, I would use the fuseable pellon, and not quilt it, or you could just meander around the butterflys

For those who don't quilt their pockets, do you do a top stitch or in the ditch stitch across the outside of the lining of the front pocket?
