I looked at 2 treadle sewing machines yesterday. They have a lot of gold decals, but nothing I recognized. Can anyone help me id them? Serial numbers G8759088 and G9057264. At least one of them has a shuttle type bobbin.

They are both Singer 27's, both made in 1910. The second one was made in Canada. (According to the Singer site and your serial numbers.)

They look great for the price!

OOPS... my mistake. I left off a digit when looking up the numbers. Quiltingnan (above) is right... The 127s are the smaller versions of the 27's.

Both of those machines look great and reasonable prices, although, I always try to offer a lower price. The decals look great.

When I got mine I sent an email to singer that included the model # for each of my 4 and the next day they sent one back w/the day/year/month and place of birth and what type they were. I had been searching the web and was getting different answers.

They both use shuttles and long bobbins. Make sure the "bullet shaped" case is there and the long bobbin that goes with it as they are pricey to replace.

There are several beautiful shuttle bobbin machines out there.
However, I've read other posts on the board over time that while some people enjoy their shuttle machines...
the majority of people claim that they are a bit too persnickety for everyday use.

Given this information, a round bobbin machine may be better for everyday use.
Just an opinion. :)

I was leaning towards a shuttle machine as that is the kind that I learned to sew with. Does anyone know what these decals really clean up and look like?
