I caused my own problem by not removing my quilt from the dryer immediately. (Life got in the way). The quilt got left in the dryer and the black transfer to my yellow. It did not really bleed because my color catcher came out clear. And I tested my black before I put the quilt together. Now my question is, Is there an easy fix? How can I get the black out? Has anyone used Oxyclean for this? Thanks in advance.

If your quilt was in the dryer, and forgotten ... was it not dry?
If so, the colour transfer would not have happened in the dryer.

Refashion with Synthropol in the water. It suspends the dye in the water keeping it from other fabrics.

I used Oxyclean on a small area of black that appeared to be a color imperfection in the flannel I was using. Appeared to be an inky spot). Worked like a charm when washed, but it was limited to a small area.

I've had color transfer, too - but that was when I left a wet quilt in the laundry basket too long -

If one has a quilt get wet - from whatever source - leaky babies, spills, laundry - do not let it lay there in a wet heap - - even if one can't wash it right that second - get it dry by hanging it up so that the dyes do not have a chance to migrate.

It is much better to tackle stains and spills immediately - the chances of getting them out are much better when they are fresh.

How do I know this?
