    Default Cutter?

I am thinking about asking for a fabric cutter for Christmas. Maybe an AccuQuilt GO! Baby. I'm not sure what other cutters are out there. I would love to here your suggestions and experiences before I put in my request.

    Thanks!

I bought a Skizzix from a member on the board and gave it to my daughter. I don't think she has used it yet. I think it is quite a bit cheaper than the Accuquilt Baby. I guess I never looked into one for myself.

I'm a sizzix gal but thats just me. they started to carry their quilting dies at hobby lobby so I am excited. their more sturdy than accuquilt, however not as portable if you want protability and you can use both dies in a sizzix but can't use sizzix dies in an accuquilt. I think fiskars makes one now but not sure of it for quilting

I love my accuquilt GO! !! I don't have all the dies but the ones I have are wonderful.
I especially like the 2 1/2 inch strips, the 5 inch squares, the tumblers, and a few others...

I have a Go! What I like about it is that it is compact, lightweight, portable, and easy to store. The dies I like are the irregular shapes -- triangles, tumbler (both sizes are nice!), hexagons, circles, chisel. For myself, I prefer cutting strips with the June Tailor Shape Cut mat. I also find it easy to cut squares with a ruler, so don't use the Go! for that.

The Go! Baby is awfully limiting, in my opinion. I would watch for a sale on the Go! Maybe Black Friday?

I have a GO and love it. The ACCUQUILT web site recently had a special sale on referbished "Go" cutters for $150 with a full year factory warranty. That's like getting a new one for less than 1/2 price. If you would be interested in one of these, I would give them a call and get more details.

I, too, love my GO especially the strip cutter dies. I recently ordered the hunter star die. Can't wait for it to get here. I also like the odd size dies too.

I'm sure I have read on here something about the accuquilt mAchines, either discontinuing certain lines or one of the machines. Positive I have not dreamt it.
I would go to an other machine which has dies easier to get hold of. The go, or go baby only have specific dies which fit.
I have just purchased a big shot.

I have the Baby, and find a lot of the Go dies work on it.

I have an Accuquilt Go, and the only die that I have used that could not be used on the Go Baby is the dresden plate die. I mainly use mine to cut applique shapes, and the Go Baby is great for that. The sizzix big shot pro is great. You can use any dies on it (while accuquilt go and baby only accept accuquilt dies). The big shot pro does not fold and is heavier so you need more space for it (that is why I didn't get it). If you decide to buy an accuquilt go, I'd look at sewforless or quilting-warehouse . Sewforless has periodic sales were the Go! is $169.00 (that includes shipping).
