Design Help please!
I offered to make a memory quilt for a friend who tragically lost her only child. The problem is she only had the two shirts at the top of the picture. She chose the blue and grey material to go with the shirts. I also have 4 or 5 pictures she would like on the front. White shirt 36x44 inches apx. and the grey shirt has more. I have only made 5 quilts so need something that is fairly easy. Thanks so much, I could not find a pattern I thought would work!

well, you could cut hearts out of all of them and applique them onto background squares made from another fabric or fabrics or just blue on gray and then gray on blue and the white put in there also. all fabrics would be used either as hearts or squares or both. Good luck.

are those two shirts knit t-shirts? I wouldn't applique with them--can get tricky to use. if knit, definitely use an iron on stabilizer on the back before you cut your pieces for blocks. With only 2 shirts, even with pictures added you are probably talking a lap size/wallhanging size quilt. I would suggest you alternate the picture "blocks" with a simple rail fence--putting the fabrics so that you have a gray, white, gray, blue--maybe blue (if you have enough) for borders. I would suggest you check with a local t-shirt shop to see if they will print off the pictures onto fabric for you--my local shop does a fabulous job and it's inexpensive and much better (and cheaper) than me buying special fabric, etc.

You don't have much fabric in those two shirts, so I wouldn't use any pattern with alot of pieces to waste fabric in alot of seams. I probably would just make equal size squares and sew them together, or a rail fence, as already suggested.
