In my Barbara Blackman Encyclopedia, the pattern is called Endless Chain in a Nancy Cabot pattern from 1933 (312-5) and Rose Dream in a Eveline Foland pattern in the Kansas City Star from 1930 (329-6). Apparently, the Cabot pattern is based on a 8x 8 grid, making the 4 patch larger, and the Foland pattern is based on a 10 x 10 grid. My many thanks and gratitude go to SuzSLO, Synnove, Tartan, quiltsfor, Julieml and dunster for trying to help me see, for being patient with me and your unending knowledge. I just made this unit to make one quadrant of the larger block, within the sashing and cornerstones.
To make large block, another unit exactly like this would have to be made and then 2 units with colors switched opposite.
Then sash all around with cornerstones at corners.
I also made this, before I tried making the block unit and I know it’s not quilting, but I think it’s so darn cute!-lol
