I was thinking of buying a whole gallon of Elmer's washable school glue but it would probably take me a year to use it all. Has anyone had this glue go bad?

I'm not sure if it's the cold but I bought 2 gallons and put it in my cold
basement. After a month or so it looked brownish. Had to shake the
heck out of it. It was fine afterwards.

I think it would eventually go bad, but not in one year if it's stored in reasonable conditions.

I've had 1 for about 2 years, it was starting to thicken about 1/2 way down, so I just added a little water and shook it.
it stays on a shelf in my room

Well, I guess I will continue to buy the small bottles when they are on sale. I don't stockpile much of anything.

I've had some small bottles for probably a year or so without having a problems. As someone said, you can always just add some water if it thickens

I would buy the gallon jugs of glue when I was a preschool director. Never had it go bad and in a year, a full gallon was seldom completely used up. Someone above suggested adding just a bit of water if it get thick and if you are going to be using this for quilting, it will be just fine. Store in normal room temperatures and you are golden.

I've boughten a couple bottles, school size bottles when it's on sale in the Fall before school starts. This was a couple years ago and it's still as good as when I bought it. Just about out of 1 bottle too. Checked the other bottle and it still looks good. This is the white school glue too. I also thought about getting a gallon of the clear stuff I saw at Walmart but I really don't anywhere to put it so will continue using the white stuff.

I've had a gallon jug for going on four years. It is still fine. If it does thicken, I will just add water, because I dilute it before using anyway.
