This is me yelling for help. I am a rather inexperienced quilter but am wanting to do a babyquilt using the Take5 AccuQuilt blocks. On the larger sq I am wanting to put just an applique of a flower which will also be cut out with my AccuQuilt cutter. I am not planning on using batting as I am going to use Minky. I am thinking about doing stitch in the ditch on the squares and appliquing the flowers before putting the backing on. Has anyone done this - if so, any suggestions or what I should and should not do???? You appliquers (terminology correct or incorrect) --- should I applique after I stitch the blocks together or before? Although I love the turn needle applique - I am considering doing the fusing and blanket stitching on my machine....Any advise will be wholeheartedly appreciated!!!

it is easiest to do your appliques on each block before construction- once it is constructed it is more *bulk* to deal with stitching on the machine. use a lightweight fusable like steam a seam lite or heat n bond light---the heavier ones are not made to stitch through= are very difficult and remain very stiff- the lite ones wash away and you have a nice soft/cozy quilt.

Thank you ckcowl. I will certainly take your advice. I thought it would be better and will not cut to size until after I have appliqued.
