Hi All! I am starting a business selling pre-cut fabric in 1 inch, 1.5 inch, 2 inch and 2.5 inch strips, 5 and 10 inch squares. In order to supply exactly what the market is looking for, I would like some feedback.
What, in your opinion, is most important? The COLOR of the fabric, the QUALITY of the fabric, or the PRICE of the fabric?

It depends on why I'm buying the fabric.

If the color or fabric is 'perfect' for a quilt I am planning or a fabric that I need another yard of to finish a quilt, I pay whatever the price is.

I'm willing to pay a bit more for 10" inch squares than for charm packs because I have the flexibility to use them as is or cut them any way i want.

If it's fabric that I want to use for binding - like a jelly roll of all one color - black or navy blue or red, for example -I'll pay the asking price for a jelly roll of 20 or 40 strips. They last a long time, so that's not a huge expenditure.

It takes me a long time to do a quilt so I put quality of fabric as #1, then color and lastly cost. That being said, I do look for sales on quality fabrics at Craftsy and LQSs. I'm the same way with thread. I love Superior thread but usually only buy it on sale online or at quilt shows.

To me Quality is the most important. I put alot of work into my quilts, and I don't want them to fall apart or fade drastically in a year or 2.

I think most buy precuts to get all the fabric in one fabric line, I know that's why I buy them.

Quality would hate to buy and have it fall apart

I would consider buying precuts from washed fabric

Otherwise, I avoid them.

Also if the fabric is cut on the grain.

The QUALITY of the fabric is most important. That is what I was taught by Harriet Hargrave. Good Luck in your adventure. The public is very finicky so be precise with what you do.

Quality is #1. If it's cheap I'll look but if it feels thin or is already really frayed I won't take it home even if it's super cheap. Color is a close #2. Price is last but that's not to say it's not important too.
