    Nice job!!! This may be a dumb question but here goes. Do you sew the applique on before or after you put the quilt back, top and batting together? In other words, do you sew through all 3 layers to do the applique?

    You do the applique of each square. Sew on sashing strips if using. Go from there, adding on until you have the top to the size you want. Make your quilt "sandwich" and quilt
