My granddaughter wants an elephant on her quilt...green background with an elephant (not realistic as in detailed) so I have been looking and looking for the right elephant and pattern. today she was out to my house and spent about five minutes on the computer and found just the exact thing! She searched "cool quilts". Crazy girl, how did she do that?? now I need to blow it up really big.

Leave it to kids to navigate our computers. They start in kindergarten. I know your quilt will be a thing of beauty in her eyes.

Kids know vtheir way around the computer. I was going to suggest looking at the coloring pages on the internet -- I have pulled some cool, copyright free shapes for applique.

the really good thing about this is that it is in the exact colors that she wants. She said that she wanted to find the colors and pattern on the computer because she did not want to go to a quilt shop with me. She is 17. When she was little she went with me and liked it. One time she found a bolt of 30's fabric that she liked. she carried that bolt around the store. After I paid, she had to dig it out of the bag. She laid it out on the floor, refolded it up nicely, and then draped it over her arm..then we walked out to the car. SOOO cute. She was a girl after my own heart but alas, she is 17 and moved on to boys, golf, social life etc etc.

My GD would have found an elephant in the internet too. They both show Grandma how to use her cell phone and finds things on the computer.

But, she will never forget the lessons she learned and may one day be visiting fabric stores again.

It's off topic but I love the pic in your avatar. I've been playing wth trying paper piecing. Do you know the name of that pattern. I'd love to make one.
