Since I don't have a longarm and truly hate to pin, I have been using fusible batting but it leaves a residue on my needle. Would the spray adhesive be a viable alternative?

To me, both leave adhesive on the needle. I still prefer to pin baste on a table because if there is a problem with a tuck, I can easily fix that. I have never gotten down on the floor as some have posted.

Never had a problem with residue from 505. I allow it to dry or iron it prior to quilting, tho.

​I have only used Hobbs 80/20 fusible and never noticed any residue.

I use 505 for all my basting & have not had a problem with residue on my needle. I let it dry overnight before quilting.

I prefer the basting spray over fusible. Fusible just takes so long to apply.

I use 505 spray for basting and I have never had a problem with the needle gumming up. I don't have much experience with fusible batting except in small projects only. I have not tried it on a bed size quilt.

I use nothing but spray basting and have never had a problem with residue on my needle. I usually let it dry over night also. I also never get on the floor to baste, tried that once or twice using pins and will never do that again. Too hard working on the floor and getting up again Not to easy getting down on the floor either anymore. I hang my layers on wall board insulation and it works beautifully!

I use craft glue. I dilute it 50/50. I put it on in a swirl pattern, not to thick. let it dry. I never have a problem, It hold and my needle never get residue on it.

I use 505 spray, and I've never had a problem with residue. We use spray basting for our charity quilts at my guild, and so there are lots of people spraying and the immediately quilting, with no problems.
