Default Germany, London, Paris Quilt Shops?

We are traveling throughout Germany, Austria, Hungary, Paris and the outskirts of London area. I would love to hear from anyone with experiences with quilt shops over there. Costs? Types of fabrics? Unique opportunities? Thanks!

I should have said 'we will be traveling'. Haven't left the states yet.

Yes! I want to know also. I've always heard their fabric is more expensive so it will be fun to hear what our group says. Enjoy your trip. I'll be traveling with my college roommate next year through Europe. She now lives in Seattle.

I don't think there are any"quilt" shops but more of a fabric store in France but you should be able to Google the cities you will visit and see what quilts stores will be on your route. Have FUN!!

Thanks! Yes, I can google, which I've done, and there are many quilt shops over there, however, I was hoping for some input from QB members about real experiences and recommendations.

There are Patchwork Shops or "Stoffgeschaefte" in Germany but beware of the prices. I bought some beautiful neutral fabrics made in Germany. Also note that the opening hours in Europe are much different than in the States. So check first and most of all HAVE A FABULOUS TRIP!!!

We were just in Passau and there is a Pfaff/Singer store in the old section which had just a few bolts of cotton suitable for quilting. I got a half meter of two of them. We are in Nuremberg now and when I googled I couldn't find any close enough to where we are (train station area). They may be here but I didn't see any while we were walking around and the folks I asked didn't know of any. So if there is at
least one and I missed it I will be sad. Let us know what you find and enjoy your trip. It has been extremely hot here and most places are not air conditioned. Makes for a two shower day!

    Hi Corky,

Don't know about London, but if you are anywhere near Suffolk I can let you know about our shops here.... we have a couple of real gems!

    Hugs
