    Default Going outside MY box!

My daughter picked a kit and pattern with stripes... Stripes Squared, Aardvark Quilts. This is totally outside my box, but I think I'm up for the challenge. It's all stripes that I have to cut triangles and trapezoids out. The quilt shop suggested that I uses a 'steady betty'. I didn't purchase, but asked my local quilt shop if they sold them...she is letting me borrow hers, and if I want to purchase..she will get it in the store for me. ANYONE use a Steady Betty?

PS...all triangles and trapezoids are now cut...and I'm excited to begin. She will put the colors together and I will do. My daughter is an adult and very good with colors, just not a quilter....YET! ha

You can get some cool designs with striped fabrics when the angles come together. I can't wait to see it!

I had to Google that pattern - that's a neat looking quilt! I hope you post pictures when you're done!!

I haven't ever used a Steady Betty. I've examined them in the store but I'm not sure I'd get enough benefit from it to justify the price.

I have a Steady Betty on a table next to my machine and use it constantly to press small blocks after stitching. It does grab the fabric so it doesn't stretch out of shape. It also grabs every little thread so be sure to have a lint roller nearby! To me, it was worth the $50 I paid for it.
