    Default Golden Plait Runner

Hi, I just purchased the Golden Plait Runner and the directions are British. Does anyone know what a presser rod is?

    Thanks.

Well, without knowing the context it's mentioned in, I'm wondering if it's the same thing as a Strip Stick. You lay a seam lengthwise on it and it apparently makes it easier to press open.

What do the instructions say you're supposed to do with it?

On the instructions it says "presser rods, 1/4" or 3/16" wide for making bias strip."

Oh. I think I know what she's talking about. There are flat plastic or metal strips that you can put inside bias strips that will help you keep the strip flat while you press it. I have some but hardly ever use them. In my opinion, you don't have to have them, if you google you will find plenty of tutorials on how to make bias strips or stems with several different techniques, some that use those tools and some that don't.

Here's a link to a tutorial on how to use them and what they look like. Hope this helps.

Will be watching this. The only likely presser rod I've heard of is the one you attach the feet to. How is it mentioned in your instructions?

Of course, silly me. After seeing Peckishs' post, I have metal ones - somewhere. Forgot about them.

This is the first time I've been on this board and I can tell I'm going to really love it. Thank you so much! After seeing the tutorial, I discovered I already have some press bars among my sewing paraphernalia. LOL.
