Has anyone ever used microfiber sheets for backing? I was wanting to try this, but was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with microfiber material.

I am using them for summer sheets and they are wonderful. Feel like silk and just right to pull over in the am. I see no reason why they would not work. They don't shrink. Test by poking a needle thru and see if they will quilt easily.

I find that dryer sheets work great for machine embroidery...
They can also be used as a foundation piece.

Hi, Jodie, I have read on several of my embroidery groups not to use the dryer sheets for embroidery. There is some chemical/oil substance in the sheets (even used ones) that will mess up the machine. Just FYI.

Aren't they stretchy? I don't have any but saw some at Wallyworld and they looked like a T-shirt knit. Maybe it was just those sheets.

I just quilted a friends this week on a frame with one on the back because she liked the feel. You have to be a lot more careful than usual. They did want to stretch a small amount as I rolled the quilt. Just make sure to keep checking the back.

I thought that microfiber was very, very tightly woven, which was why they have special special microfiber (microtex) needles. The Micro fiber fabrics I've made bags with leave pin holes, and I had to make sure I pinned in the seam allowance. You won't know until you try, however. Maybe see if you can get just a pillowcase...

Does the mircrofibre eventually pill? I know some sheets with a high polyester content will and I don't like feeling or seeing all those little nubs. I use sheets all the time but only use cotton ones.

Thanks everyone for your input. Maybe I'll try backing a small quilt first to see how I like it.
