Default Have you ever used a presser foot w/ a guide?

    Hello.

I needed to buy a quarter inch foot for my machine--it's new and didn't come with one. Saw this foot available on Amazon, with a guide built into it.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever used one? If so, did you like it?

    Thanks!

    Karen

I got one for my Janome and like it a lot. it has a metal guide on the side. Now, even with a quarter inch guide foot you can do your seams incorrectly. it is a guide. don't let the fabric wander away from the foot, nor push it against the foot too much. I love mine!!

Not sure which foot you are referring to as your link didn't come thru. However I have a foot with an edge for my Bernina and like it. Just like any other foot you have to be sure you have the fabric snugged up against the edge.

Doesn't matter if I have a guide or not I can still mess it up. Sometimes I just resort to a chalk line. Works for me.

I have them on all of my machines but just like the walking foot make sure its not generic and its for your machine, you'll save more in the long run if its made for the machine its on. Generics have been known not to hold up as well. But the guide on the foot is well worth the cost. You may still have to adjust your machine by sliding the needle left or right but once you know the setting then you're good to go and your seams will be consistant.

I have the walking foot with a 1/4 guide on it for my Janome. Not crazy about it. The guide tends to get caught in material, must be the way it is bent. Don't always use it.

I have a 1/4 inch foot with guide for all of my sewing machines. It makes it so easy to have the perfect 1/4 inch seam. It also makes sewing curves easy.

I use one on my Bernina. I also move the needle over one notch. Like others pointed out, it doesn't solve all the problems, but I think it helps me.

I bought one for my Viking and hated so much I took it back. I get better seams with the needle setting/regular foot.
