My quilter friend and I are finally going to go to Lancaster shopping for fabric. We are so excited. We leave on Monday morning. Can you tell us the top 3 or 4 shops that we NEED to go to. Are there any bargains. Cheap prices not cheap fabric. I got The Quilter Magazine today and there is a quilt on page 64 called Chocolate Creams and I am definitely going to make it. Im so excited! Thanks in advance.

    Here's the whole list

    Here is a recent review:

I like Sauder's and Old Country and Weavers, but it's mostly a time constraint for me.
I know I can get what I want at those three, and then get back on the highway. ;-)

Ladyfinger's is out in the boonies, but it's a nice shop.

If you get out even farther you might want to stop at Obie's in Goodville on Rte 23. It is an experience...not your regular quilt shop, but they have an amazing amount of fabric in a small space and I find their prices to be very reasonable. Beware if you are claustrophobic.

Oh, I almost forgot my favorite. Piece by Piece on State St in Ephrata, PA.

I like Old Country, Zooks and Bitty Kinna's. All within a stone's throw from one another. There is also another shop in Bird-in-Hand that for the life of me the name will not stick! It's a single story house that is just a rabbit's warren full of fabric. One of the best selections of flannel I've ever seen. They also have a sale room and the prices of the regular fabrics are good. Below is the notion shop from heaven. If you follow the main drag from Intercourse (Old Country, etc) towards Bird-in-Hand, they have quilts hanging outside. Limited parking out front and more parking in rear. Very nice Menonite folks run this shosp.

Never heard of Landyfingers. Where are they? What kind of stuff do they have?

It's Ladyfingers Sewing Studio, located in Oley. Pa.

    Boonies, I tell you. BOONIES.

It's Gail Kessler's (Andover Dimples) shop. It used to be called...something Studio (?) Can't remember. It was years ago.

Also, I think Jane Townswick (applique Diva) also works out of there. Or did. Nice shop, organized like a regular LQS, not the mayhem like at some of the other shops.

Thanks for that info. I'll have to check them out my next trip.
