    Default Help with D9P??

Has anyone done a D9P in plaids or stripes??
I have some men's shirt from a lady wanting one done.
I thought of just doing a 4 patch??
    Thanks Gayle

I have done one with some stripes, no plaids. After cutting them and sewing them back together, I had some stripes going vertically and some horizontally, but I was OK with that.

Can you cut out enough squares for a couple of blocks and play around with the layouts to see what you like? Or, photocopy a couple of the fabrics and try layouts with squares cut from that.

I've never done a D9P but I'm currently making a single Irish chain with plaid and striped mens shirts. The shirts will be the large squares and combined with a light color for the 9 patch. I had to buy fabric for the light colored patches.

I've done one with stripes. I had two fabrics that coordinated. This quilt went to a wounded soldier.

I added some solid shirts that I had so it wasn't all plaids. I actually got three quilt tops out of all the (XXL) shirts I had - all D9Ps, but each with a different look. These have been quilted and gifted. The one not shown is for me, which isn't quilted yet.

I must add that hand quilting flannel was murder on my hands.

Thanks Jo M. That gives me something to think about. Mine are just men cotton shirts.
