    Default help with fold and wreath, please

    I did finally ordered the pattern for fold and stitch wreath, but as it won't be here for a few days or a week, I wanted to get started, so I watch a you tube video on making them, Origami Candle Mat by Babs anyway I decided to make one. If anyone wants to see this video the link is here in tutorial for fold and stitch wreath, you can do a search

    I have one question, right now anyway, when you turn the squares how do you sew the opening closed? by hand? YAK, as I hate hand work..I tried looking at some of the pictures here but it was hard seen this part. So I am turning to all you lovely ladies to help me out. so what is it machine top stitch all around the square or hand sewing?

    I also seen that some of the ladies that have made these did a little stitching around the frame part of the block and that looks good too.so will try that also..Thanks

    The u-tube video is NOT the same pattern so just be patient and wait for your pattern to arrive. The applique border is much wider than in the original pattern. That u-tube video is a knock off.

    The instructions say to hand sew it. The opening is fairly small so it doesn't take long to sew them all closed.

    Some people have just top stitched very close to the edge around all of their squares, they also feel this gives a nice, crisp edge. No need to sew the gap closed by hand.

    I have made at least 8 and have not sewn the opening closed. Once you put the smaller square in the middle and zig zag around it you no longer have to worry about that opening.
