    Question Help please!

Hello everyone, i recently got out my sewing machine after roughly 7 months of not using it. I lost my needle clamp screw!!
Are there any alternatives to using one? Or any easy replacements?

I can’t think of anything to replace the needle screw clamp. Anything that you think might fit, may strip the threads in the machine. I would look to a repair shop of your machine brand for a replacement or on the net.

I agree - don't try to find a substitute unless you're willing to gamble your machine.

You should be able to buy one online for under $20 (max). If the machine is worth $20 for you, don't risk messing up the threads - a machine that can't hold a needle in is useless!

Where I work, if you bring your machine to the shop, we just go through our loose screws and try a few thumb screws until we find the right one, and give it to you. Take it to the shop. I'll bet they have an extra that won't cost much.

I lost my needle clamp screw at a quilt retreat but luckily someone had a spare for the same brand machine so I was saved that time. I decided then to make sure I had spares of such items like screws, needles, scissors, etc. so I'm not placed in that position again. I was amazed how expensive a little screw is though.....$10 and here I thought I was being generous paying her $10 for the screw she gave me.

Most all needle screws and pressure foot screws will fit all machines. I have used a an old Singer needle screw on a newer Janome. The pressure foot screw have different size heads but the threads are the same in most cases. The bigger the head some feet like a walking foot won't fit exactly right.

Do you have a quilt shop or sewing machine shop near you? I think it would be best to try and have one of those shops help you out with the correct piece. Good luck to you
