Default How big ? Baby quilt for twins

My twin granddaughters will probably arrive early in June. I thought I’d make some baby quilts but I figure both girls will go on one quilt for a while. How big should I make the quilt?

    thanks
MJ who will be moving from San Diego to Nebraska for 6 months next year.

Since quilts are supposed to be only used for tummy time now, make the size you want for the floor. I would think 36 by 48 would be a good size for a newborn.

I generally may baby quilts in a size that will fit the width of my backing fabric. So, they often turn out to be about 45 square or is I want a bit longer, I will go to 50 or 52 length depending on the pattern I am using. This will make the quilt last through toddlerhood.

Ah twins in pink! I would still make two since babies cam be so messy. For little ones I sometimes make the quilts 36x36. Then toddler larger. Have fun!

I use the crib size batting and make them that size. about 43 x 58". Too small and they won't get much use out of them.
