    I am at a loss...How do you go about squaring up a octagon shape table topper.

    I would cut a paper template one fraction smaller then the size of the table topper and then trim the topper to a even size all around.

    I actually appliqued mine to borders all the way around...wanted the squares on the sides to show...it worked

    I did the sa,e thing, appliqued it to a square if fabeic and then added my borders. Turned out great. I've got another one started with much smaller hex's.
