Default How many stencils do you own?

Maybe I am cheap, lol. But everytime I do a quilt, I find it hard to buy a stencil to fit that particular size on a quilt. Do you buy one each time? What else do you do?

I am probably not the one you need to hear from, but I'm interested in the replies you receive. I am a newbie at the LA. Just got mine set up and will hopefully get to try it out this weekend....maybe! At this time, I have 2 Stencils, just to try them out and see how I do. I did buy them on sale, so not much $$ invested in them. I know I'll have to start off with the crawling before I can fly, but I am anxious to test my wings.

I have quite a few, but the big question is.... how many do I use? Honestly unless I'm hand quilting these poor stencils are just sitting here looking pretty. I have a couple border ones that have been used more than once, and even took a course on making stencils & have the roll of blue plastic & the knife to cut them. I'm lazy now.... I cut my shapes from freezer paper usually & quilt around that. The marking of the fabric is what discourages me from using the stencils.

I've bought maybe 6 stencils. You can make your own though, there's a tool that will "burn" the template materials.

I have a pile of them but have not figured out how to machine quilt with them. It is on my list for this summer.

Not many. I have plenty of books with ideas in which I can copy to make a stencil .
