Default I can't plan or do math!!!! Suggestions?

I want to make a small quilt using the Easy Cathedral Window Quilt Tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt Company. I have watched that video over and over and I understand the basics of putting it together, but I want to do something bigger than what she has done and that is where my problem lies. I have tried putting it to pen and paper and drawing the whole thing out, but I just can't wrap my brain around it.
What I want is to know how many squares of the basic colors I need, how many white squares I need and how many squares to go into the whites I will need. I want to make a large baby/toddler quilt. Maybe a 40 by 55/60 inch quilt. Anyone have any helpful suggestions?

She used a charm pack of color and a charm of white. If you use four Charm of each it would measure 36 X 52

I know that she publishes her quilts in written text in her magazine called the Block. You might want to send MSQC to see if has been published in which edition and if that would resolve your question. They have excellent customer service.

Or you could put it on grid paper and one square is one inch and then simply times everything by 2 or 4. That's easy leash math lol. I'm horrible at math and that's how I do it

Try using some graph paper. Decide what size each square is going to be - 1-inch, 2-inches, etc. then color in the squares and count.

Keep making squares units until it's the size you want. No math or planning needed.

there is a Robert Kauffman app that you could download on your phone that might help, it's free.

here is a layout for you - you will need 150 color squares and 120 white squares. for the rows that only have half a window I would cut the center color in half and use at the other end. HTH

How kind of you, Cheryl7758, to make that grid. I hate to admit it, but I, too, am awful at math, so I sometimes "math" things out by doing it the "long" way, which I'm sure would make you math brainiacs shudder. This is one very friendly helpful Board of Quilters! Thank you all.
