    Default I discovered something.

Sometimes math and I have "issues". But I so love to modify block patterns and reduce , increase , some kind of change. Any how you get the idea. Tonight after struggling with my latest modification, and looking for the right size scraps to make my test block... and not wanting to sacrifice some of my larger pieces.... I thought "what about using paper instead of fabric". It was a light bulb moment for me . I sewed my paper pieces just as I would have fabric, just to see if all really fit before cutting any "good fabric". I know this is simple and many have probably done this , but for me it was a discovery I will use again and just wanted to share.

Great idea! I have done similar practice pieces for garments and quilts from cheap muslin.

I have used paper yet instead of sewing, didn't want to dull the needle if it was still newly placed in my machine I pin side ways at the 1/4" test the size.

I like to cut coloured construction paper into the pieces without seam allowances and put them together like a puzzle. A little scotch tape and I can construct the block to see how it looks.

    ..............staples work good too!!!!!

Instead of dulling your needles ... just keep an old needle and use it when doing PPing.
