Do you mean splicing if you take an end of each piece lay on on top of the other so you have an angle...right sides together...draw a diagonal line from the right corner to the left corner and sew online cut 1/4 for seam allowance press open and you have it. but if you go from outside top leftto inside right corner you get an angle... :lol: :lol: Is this clear as mud or what?? :-D :-D BillsBonBon

This tutorial is really wonderful. I bookmarked a video on youtube and watched it half a dozen times before I finish binding each quilt and every time I do it wrong 5 or 6 times before I do it right. It shows the exact same technique as the tute on the board does. Somehow, the tute on this board made the lightbulb come on for me. I've had it up on the screen while I've done the binding and it comes out great the first time one both of my recent quilts!! I would highly recommend it.

Use the Sharon Schamber's glue trick.
When you come to the end, fold the end piece onto your quilt at a 45 degree angle and press.
Put a small line of glue along the fold at the 45 degree edge.
Now lay your beginning piece of binding on top of the glue and press with an iron. This will make it stick.
Carefully, holding the glued part, unfold the rest of the binding tails.
The fold line will be visible as to where to sew, and the ends will be held together with the glue.
It always works.

I went to cut fabric a while back and had to call my friend. i couldn't remember if you cut with salvage away from you or by you. At least she got a good chuckle out of it. LOL

BTW cut with fold toward you and salvedge away. :)

I found as I age I occassionally I have brain freezes. Since we have no police of any kind here I feel safe admitting this to you. I feel so silly went all of a sudden the correct way to do or spell something pops into my head. I actually think It's a good think my adult children don't see this or they'd start looking for home for me...LOL

Mums the word to me, I'll never tell a sole about your little problem. The suggested tutorials will do the trick and you'll be back in business in no time!

This is my favorite way to bind a quilt, you always get perfect mitered corners and she shows how to make the final seam in your binding. Watch this tutorial all the way to the end. This is how Kaye Wood does it.

I know exactly what you mean!

Just this week I made the mistake of sewing the ends together and cutting, snapping, and oops, the raw edges were on the outside!
