    Default I feel so dumb.....

I'm making a PP square in a sq in a sq....I have the templates for the triangles so I won't have too much waste....thought I was so smart when I used the templates on 8 layers of 2 colors of fabric...that gave me 8 triangles at one time....it wasn't until I made about 100 that I realized something....that if I made a square and cut it 4 times, I cd make 32 at a time.....who knew?

I've done that. I just worked on a national designers paper piecing pattern that had you make twice as many triangles as what the pattern called for and it was an even number. I was just glad that I had my own fabric and didn't use her kit. I bet others run out of that particular fabric in the kit. Math is not my strong suit.

That does not qualify as dumb! If it does, then we are all dumber than door posts because I am reasonably certain that everyone who comes to this board had.the experience of figuring out they 'did it the hard way'! After they did it the hard way, of course!

Like when I cut (8) 1" squares one at a time, instead of cutting an 8 x 1" strip and sub-cutting! You are not alone!!

You are in excellent company. Probably everyone on this board has done something similar at one time or another. I call them learning opportunities. Quilting goes on. Kathy

Now you know why some of us prefer the patterns by certain designers, (EB comes to mind) because they have done all the thinking for us.....

After making quilts for many years I still make the dumbest mistakes. And I don't know why I'm always so surprised when I do so

You are not alone. I did the math on a previous quilt and even had the correct number written down. Then I flipped it in my head and cut a whole stack. When my blocks were done I had enough for an entire second quilt.

LOL< I make these kinds of mistakes often, but I have fibromyalgia so I get to blame it on the fibro fog that so often turns my brain to mush!

Don't feel dumb. We all have had those 'aha' moments.
