If you are making a jelly roll race quilt, it will just have a different look than the ones that are 2 1/2 inches. It all depends on the look you want. If I were going to cut it and have narrower strips, I'd go with 2 3/4 so I could just cut each strip in half.

I just thought jelly rolls were 2-1/2" wide. I can always learn something new and do quite often on here.

Jelly rolls are just 2 1/2" wide. The precuts that are 5 1/2" x 22" are called Twice The Charm.

I thought this size was "dessert rolls". I would cut it in half, quilt will be larger, but you are eliminating waste.

Wouldn't the idea work just the same for wider strips? Sew them all together just like the regular jelly roll. It will have larger areas of the fabric, but that would just be a new look!!

A Dessert Roll is 5" wide by WOF and is by Moda, the Twice The Charm is by RJR and 5 1/2" by 22". Lots of precut sizes and shapes to keep track of. :-)

I would just use those strips the size they are, unless you are wanting the look of the 2 1/2 strips.
