Unhappy just got back from Mary Jo's cotton going up!!!!

visited some friend in NC and had to paid a visit to Mary Jo's, I had the honor of having her help me...She was very sweet and shared some scary news....She told me that the US and China are not planting cotton and because of this fabric will be going up to 12.00 a yard or more... she was stocking up on her inventory so she can keep her prices down...told you she was sweet. It scary to me that this is going on!!! good thing some of us have a stash....

Texas is experiencing a severe drought. Don't know about China.

I was at Mary Jo's over the Holidays... and had the pleasure of her ripping my fabrics. Quite a Lady and a wonderful story about how she ended up in the fabric business.
Just when I thought maybe prices were stabilizing.

Hate to hear about prices going up, they are already too high. I'm glad that I have a huge stash. One more reason to stick to my resolution not to buy any new fabric this year and just use my stash.

I am lucky enough to live only 1 1/2 hours from Mary Jo's. I love to shop there. She has always had the best prices around and she is such a joy to talk to.

If they are going up to $12/yd in the USA, I can hardly wait to see how high they get here in Ontario. We already pay anywhere from $12/yd to $22/yd. I joined the Fabric Moritorium last year and signed up again this year...I guess it won't be hard to honour it with higher fabric prices.

I live next door to the USDA cotton grader in Lubbock. We just had a drought season with lower yields, but he hasn't said anything about farmers not planting. I will have to ask him.
