Hi quilting friends, have any of you successfully used Kaufman yarn dyed linen in your quilts? If so, what did you think?

I always use 100% cotton in my quilts since that is what I was taught. This fabric is 55% Linen 45% cotton. Only Fabric.com is carrying this fabric. Not sure how durable or washable linen is.

Linen is extraordinarily durable. It is made of spun flax, and was used to wrap mummies. Yep. That durable.

As for dye fastness this is the company that makes Kona so I am confident they have it sorted out. My lqs has them and they have a great hand. I will be using them in a city quilt in the next couple of months.

I've used linen many times in many projects. Both 100% and blends with great results. It's washable, gets softer with each washing and may slowly fade a bit depending on the dying process and dyes used. It behaves very much like cotton and works and plays well with other natural fabrics. It is extremely strong when wet and it may ravel a bit if loosely woven. Linens also develop a wonderful patina as they age.

Linen is a Fabulous fabric! Just gets better with time, use, laundering. Holds up well - is Very durable, strong fabric. Softens with each wash, has beautiful drape. Linen clothes never wear out, or go out of style. In quilting it would make great, lasting quilts. Yarn dyed tends to be more ( stable) than dyed fabric.
