    Default Log Cabin layout question....

I'm making a Christmas gift in log cabin blocks. I made 24 and put them together in a barn raising pattern. After I looked at it, I decided it wasn't big enough so I make 12 more blocks. Now, I can't figure out how to add the 12 blocks to continue the barn raising layout.

Can someone tell me how to do this...or do I need to make 12 more to make the design come out even?? I'm stuck.

    Thanks

I've seen some barn raising LC that are off-centered. Check Google Image for some ideas.

Barn raising is one of my favourite arrangements but I am liking the asymmetrical placement that puts the center to one side and makes a spiral. You might Google other arrangements to see if you could do that without making more blocks.

To have the barn raising in the exact center, you have to have even multiples....6x6 or 8x8 or 10x10. Since you already have 24 blocks done, adding the extra 12 will bring you to the 36 needed for a 6x6 format.

You can add to just the top and bottom using the graphic above. It doesn't have to square.

That's what I was thinking too.

I also like the asymmetrical look. I think it works better if the fabrics are more modern, though. Could you post a pic of some of your blocks?

I knew I'd get an answer here Thanks, ladies. If I could figure out how to post a picture, I'd show you what I have done. I'm using batiks in teals.

batiks in teals sounds lovely!! Here is my favorite LC set for when you don't have an even number of rows.

Ptquilts- that's an interesting layout. I don't think I've seen that one and I love Log Cabins. Have made many and looked at lots of them.
