    Default Looking for...

A product for stiffening similar to times or pelted...but a little softer. Any recommendations?

Do you mean timtex & peltex? Have you tried soft & stable? It's kind of like headliner, so a lot softer, but it really does hold the shape of totes & purses.

I can't answer your question directly, but... I was just in my local JAF's (with another QB member, yah!) looking at interfacings and such. Found a great little gizmo on the end of the rack with all their various interfacings made up as swatches (about 5" square) with fabrics on both sides. Bolt labels holding them onto various rings clipped together. A great way to get a true feel for what specific product you are looking for based on results.

Granted I'm a very tactile person in general but I think that is a great resource for those of us not intimately familiar with linings; interfacings; etc. to get a better handle on what the end product may feel/function like. Just a thought.

Soft and Stable is wonderful. I bought mine at LQS. Don't know if JAF's carries it or not. Try it, you'll love it.

I don't think JAF carries Soft N Stable, but Pellon makes a similar product and I think they carry that one.

I got mine at my LQS. Joann's carries it, but only online.

I ordered mine by phone from Connecting threads. I saw they had it on line just as I was having problems with my old computer and I called them and they helped me order it. I love it for bags.

I have used polyester felt for purses with great success. Holds its shape and washes well. Less expensive.
