    Besides the books of embroidery designs in most catalogs, try Amazon or maybe local library has a book or two......or kids coloring books-now that holiday stuff I'd beginning to sneak into stores, I'm sure holiday coloring books will be there soon too!

    some are bigger than 6", but crabapple hill studio has a lot of beautiful winter embroidery patterns.

    Try Urban Threads. A lot of their Machine embroidery designs come in hand embroidery format, too. Good luck.

    You can also use coloring book pages, applique patterns or anything with a "line design". Modify if you you want it simpler by removing unnecessary lines.

    There are many sites you can check, Embroidery Library, Secrets of Embroidery , Designs by sick are 3 I use a lot.
