Have two new babies in the family and they are under a yr old, but I was thinking when they visit a bean bag would be perfect for little ones to sit in. I remember my daughters had them (store bought) even when they were teens and loved them. Can I attempt to make my own....I think the stores still sell those poly beads to fill the thing, but to try to figure out a pattern for the bag itself...anyone know of a video or pic of one I could get an idea from...thanks

I don't know about making one, its a good idea tho... our Kmart sells the beads and the bags separately, I have thought of buying one but they are pricey....

I made several over the years for various GK's.... I have made a dog, cat, and a bear bean bag chair... McCalls or Simplicity pattern.

I believe if you search the web, you'll find some cute patterns, including a frog. I will look a little for you. I did several from such a pattern for a quilt show donation and they all sold quickly. I didn't use buttons (worried about babies) but I made some of them out of soft green fleece.

    ADD: Here's a FREE pattern: http://www.lilblueboo.com/2009/09/ne...anbag-hes.html

Instead of buttons for eyes, you might consider sewing on small yo-yo or felt circles---I did the latter a white circle topped by a smaller black one. Just sew them securely. Also cute made of regular fabric instead of fleece.

oops--sorry,,,just re-read and realized you meant a chair! I apologize.

    Hi all,
I am the one asking about pattern for beanbag chair for kids. Thanks for all the info. Also, I just went to beanbags.com and saw one with a denim-type fabric for 29.99 free shipping.....how does that sound.... wonder what those little styre balls go for...maybe I should just order one already done and save myself $$$

Our church had some beanbag chairs that were getting flat, and someone came up with the idea of refilling them with styrofoam packing peanuts. It worked well. Maybe you can find some on craigslist for free, or see what a bagful costs at a shipping place. Make your cover and put the peanuts inside. (I think you could leave them in a plastic bag and just stuff it inside the cover?)
