I have been thinking about starting a memory quilt for each of my boys...it will be a quilt that will take a few years...I was thinking of doing a quilt that would be all the things that I did or enjoyed and tv shows, cars whatever of me in the past growing up through the years. I will not tell them about it...I will write a letter for each stating what the different blocks mean to me....and also part a bit of them in each...maybe a piece one of their shirts from a sports. When I am no longer here I will have whoever is taking care of my things give it to them....hopefully I will have another 20 years before they will get them...it will be made of love and something they can hopefully enjoy.

I did memory quilts for 4 of my grandkids for Christmas. Their dad died of cancer 3 days after Christmas last year. Each quilt had their special nickname their dad had given them. Many of the patches were from his pjs. I also included blocks with golf, and black labs, both part of his life. I painted the logo for the Red Sox on a block and also the Mason's symbol. Finally I added the pocket and logo from his work shirts. Inside the pocket I put butterflies (butterfly kisses from heaven). Although the kids are young, when they unwrapped them, the immediately wrapped up in them. They call them their Daddy blankets.
