My mom is also a quilter, one who loves to work with scraps and do hand embroidery. She has never used a computer in her life and so is not on the board. But I want to show off some of her work. I read a lot of the posts here to her and show her the pictures. I think she will enjoy having some of her work shown.

In the first she fussy cut a big butterfly from fabric and fused it to a background. Then she did crazy quilt border, and then she embroidered the details and did the flowers. I love this one and am still trying to talk her out of it. It would be beautiful on my wall. The second in a mini crazy quilt about 12 in. square she made last week and it is hanging on her wall.

Butterfly and flowers - still needs binding

Wow, your mother's work is gorgeous!

I'm new to this forum but not new to the internet in general. QB has been one of the warmest, most welcoming communities I've found online. Perhaps your mother would enjoy being able to read here at will? There's a huge amount of information shared here.

Come to the dark side, Mom! We have unlimited virtual cookies and virtual fabric here...

Those are gorgeous. I'd try to talk her out of the butterfly too...so unique. My mother taught herself how to do that crewel embroidery but I tried doing it and am just no good at it.

Did she do the quilting stitches by hand? I love the stitches on the 12" quilt.

Yes, she does it all by hand. We are working on a bed size crazy quilt together, slow going, and I do the piecing and she does all the embroidery.

How lucky you are to have your mom to share your passion with.
My mother and grandmother were my quilting inspiration. Beautiful work!
