Default More Than One Color of Thread for Quilting

Now, I'm not talking about variegated, but each little dolphin would be different from the one next to him in a solid thread. I'd like my dolphins to stand out as much as possible. Would it be too odd to use several different colored threads for each dolphin, such as darker on the lighter fabrics, and lighter on the darker fabrics so that they would be noticable?

It sounds like it would work to highlight the dolphins! I have used more than one color and it worked just fine

I don't think it would look odd I just think it would be a lot of work! But then again, aren't we always willing to do whatever we think will make our work looks its best? I say go for it!!!!

Well I figure the little dolphins are separate from each other anyhow, that means ending with the knot and all on each one, like the blue one I just finished with the stars on it. I have many colors of Connecting threads so they are all from the same company. I wonder if I should do a little sample with say 3 dolphins on it.....

I use different colored threads in a single quilt all the time. Sometimes I want to highlight things, sometimes I want sections to blend. All depends on the look I'm after so I say go for it.
