    Default My new quilting machine

We went to the quilt show in Ontario, CA, this weekend. I've been looking for a sit down quilting machine and none seemed to be just perfect for me. At the show, Tinlizzie had a booth and a sit down machine that sits an a fabulous table that is quite large when you put the leaf up. I took one look at it and...my husband bought it for me. It should arrive in about 4 weeks, but I've been making a list of things I want to be sure the tech shows me when it arrives. I've watched some videos on Youtube and got some ideas. For instance, they show how a thread can get jammed, but not how to get the thread out.

If anyone has one and would like to share what issues you've had or some basics that aren't well explained in the manual, I'd appreciate hearing them!

Lucky you!! My father was the same way with my mother when it came to sewing machines. She didn't quilt but was a fabulous seamstress and anytime she saw and new and improved sewing machine my father told her go and get it. He knew how much my mother loved sewing and she was always making clothes for us.

I heard that the show was packed !! It seems to be great if the leaves fold down because you need to be able to support your quilt on your left side and behind the DSM otherwise the quilt's weight will be tugging while you are trying to do FMQ. I keep telling quilters to check out a large show and test drive all the DSM. It IS like buying a car.

I saw this machine at the Oklahoma City Quilt Show a few weeks ago. It looked wonderful! I am glad you will be getting it. I just bet you love it. I didn't sit and try it out because there is no way I have room for it, but I sure wanted to.

I have a sweet sixteen by handiquilter and love it. I took lessons and learned how to use stencils and templates. They help you with curves and different designs. Have fun.

WOW, congratulations on your new sit down sewing machine. Your DH is definitely a keeper, lucky gal. Can't wait to see the quilts you will produce on the TinLizzie. Happy quilting.
