When I first started working & we typed up "spreadsheets" ... there were 4 carbons under our nice top sheet...any typing errors.... you stopped & scraped away the carbon error... rolled back & retyped... YIKES.... I'm not that old....doesn't anyone else remember using them for that?

Those are what I use as seam rippers, too! They're my favorite seam ripper. My dad called them box cutter blades.

I buy them at the paint store in boxes of 100. Mostly I use them to cut wallpaper with- there is a little handle that they fit into- keeps you from cutting yourself so easily.

Yep, I remember scrapping off the carbon error....and we teachers used these to scrape off errors on the original mimeograph worksheets. Always had one by my typewriter. :)

Yep, single edge razor blades. Haven't bought any in a long time. I've seen them in scrapers that painters use to get paint off of glass.

This is one of the best seam rippers that I have ever found. Look for it in the cosmetic section of Walmart or the large drug store chains. It is called a eyebrow trimmer, comes two in a package for the exorbitant price of $2.98 (or 3.98 at the most) and is worth it's weight in gold. I couldn't paper piece without it as I am notorious some days for sewing the pieces wrong. Another tip -- It's helpful as a third hand to hold the fabric down with your presser foot and gently cut the stitches. Here's a picture..........Hope it goes through.
I'm off to the Quilting By The Lake tour, lunch and lecture -- Fun Day!
